The Jørgen Kjems group studies the function of non-coding RNA with a particular focus on microRNA and circular RNA acting as microRNA regulators.
The group is investigating microRNA and circular RNA in disease and development of mammalian species. The group in particularly focused on cancer, neurological diseases and tissue engineering and how non-coding RNA can be used as biomarkers and therapeutic opportunities. The group holds a strong technical expertise spanning from bioinformatics for RNA structure prediction, microRNA identification and target prediction, NGS analysis pipelines, biochemical methods to advanced cellular biology. NGS are applied to animal and human tissue and body fluids transcriptomes, stem cells, SELEX libraries and for mapping DNA/RNA-protein interactome.
The research group currently consists of about 20 scientists and technicians.
